Painted from an aged and faded photograph of the couple as much younger versions of themselves. The painting was commissioned by John as homage to his wife Deirdre who passed in December 2015. As this couple were avid "birders" and gardeners, the flowers in the painting were from their garden and chosen as ones that local hummingbirds would feed from.
